Tim French

Tim’s practice is focused on serving as outside general counsel to technology companies, advising on commercial agreements, corporate governance, intellectual property, employment, and day-to-day legal matters. He also represents founders on company formation and strategic corporate initiatives, and counsels executives in connection with compensation and separation negotiations. With more than 20 years of experience, Tim combines the perspective of outside counsel and in-house leadership to help clients navigate both legal and business challenges.

Before joining Tech Law Partners, Tim was a corporate attorney at Seubert French Frimel & Warner, a boutique corporate law firm, and Director of Legal at Illumio, a leading cybersecurity software company. Tim also served as Director of Legal for Coupons.com, managing its $200 million initial public offering on the Nasdaq. In addition, Tim served as Vice President and General Counsel for Channel Intelligence, Inc., an online shopping engine and advertising company, which was acquired by Google.

Earlier in his career, he practiced in the corporate and securities groups at Latham & Watkins and Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Tim earned his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley School of Law, where he graduated first in his class and received the Thelen, Marrin Prize. He also holds a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley.
